Slim's Hill

The ascent takes less than an hour from the base, climbing steadily through rough grass and bracken without the scrambling or exposure that puts casual walkers off bigger hills.

What makes it worth the trip is the isolation. You won't queue or share the summit, and on a clear day the perspective across South Lanarkshire feels genuinely spacious. Families with primary-age kids manage it fine if they're used to moorland walking; younger children and those after easy paths should look elsewhere. There's no visitor infrastructure - no cafe, no interpretation boards - which means you need reasonable weather and decent boots.
