Site of Prae Wood Camp

A few miles east of St Albans lies one of Roman Britain's most important Iron Age settlements - Prae Wood Camp. What you're looking at is essentially a field with earthwork banks and ditches, the ghostly outline of a defensive compound that once housed a thriving community around 50 BC. It's not dramatic.
