The walk up Silverhill rewards you with proper views across Derbyshire's industrial heritage landscape. It's not one of your dramatic Peak District peaks - more of a steady pull through woodland that gets you somewhere worthwhile rather than breathtaking. The summit gives you a real sense of the area's geography, with Sutton-in-Ashfield spread out below and the surrounding moorland rolling away in all directions.

You're looking at a straightforward walk, nothing technical. Most people manage it in under an hour from the car park, though you might linger at the top if the light's good. Families with primary-school-age kids will be fine here - it's not steep enough to be a slog, but engaging enough to feel like an actual achievement. Older teenagers might find it a touch tame.
