Sàileag's a straightforward hill walk from the Kyle area - nothing fancy, just solid Highland terrain that rewards you without requiring mountaineering skills. The peak itself sits at 956 metres, which means you're getting proper mountain air without needing crampons or specialist kit. Most walkers allow three to four hours for the round trip, depending on fitness and how often you stop to admire the views. The path is well-trodden but can be boggy in places, so decent boots aren't optional. Weather here changes faster than a kettle boils, so check the forecast before you head out.

This one suits hillwalkers after a decent day out rather than seasoned climbers or families with young kids. The views towards the surrounding ridges and glens are genuinely worth the slog, especially on clear days when you can pick out Ben Attow and the broader Kintail landscape. If you're based at Glenshiel Campsite just down the road - about five miles away - it's an obvious choice for burning off a morning or afternoon. You won't find a car park with facilities or a café at the top, so bring your own water and snacks. The nearest facilities are in Kyle, so sort yourself out there first. Winter ascents are a different beast entirely and need proper winter mountaineering experience. Spring through autumn is your best window. It's the kind of walk where you'll feel properly tired at the end but satisfied, without being destroyed.
