About Sgùrr an Airgid
It's not a long route, so families with reasonably fit kids won't struggle. Allow three to four hours return from the trailhead near Kyle. The path itself is well-trodden and marked, though it can get boggy in wet weather - Scottish highlands, so bring gaiters if you're fussy about mud.
Walkers will get the most from this one. The peak itself sits at around 1,000 metres and rewards you with genuinely good views without being intimidating. On a clear day you can see right across to the mainland hills. Bad visibility and it's just a slog through cloud, so pick your weather carefully.
If you're camping at Glenshiel Campsite just a couple of miles down the road, this makes an excellent half-day outing. It breaks up a park holiday nicely - get out, stretch your legs, bag a proper viewpoint, back for lunch. The terrain is rough enough to feel like you've accomplished something, but accessible enough that you won't need specialist kit. Free to walk, obviously. No facilities at the summit, so pack water and snacks.
