School House Viewpoint sits above Burnham-on-Crouch, and on a clear day you're looking at genuine Essex countryside, not the kind of flat landscape that bores you after five minutes. The mudflats shift with the tides, boats come and go from the moorings, and the whole thing has a working character you don't get from manicured attractions.

Walkers benefit most here. If you're exploring the coastal paths around Burnham, this is a proper stopping point - twenty minutes to scramble up and take in the view, then you're on your way. Kids might find it a bit underwhelming if they're expecting play equipment, but the river activity keeps older ones engaged for a bit. The access is straightforward enough, though the final stretch up involves a bit of effort.
