The picnic tables sit on grass patches facing the water, with no fancy facilities or tourist tat in sight. Just you, your sandwiches, and a proper view across to the oil refineries on the opposite shore. Industrial it may be, but there's something oddly compelling about watching the tankers glide past while you're tucking into a packed lunch. Kids will enjoy spotting the different ships, though they'll get restless after an hour unless they bring a football for the adjacent field. The site works well as a quick stop rather than a destination - handy if you're touring between Little Haven and Dale and need somewhere to eat without the crowds. Access is straightforward from Milford Haven, though the narrow lane requires a bit of patience if you meet oncoming traffic. Weather matters here more than most places - when it's blowing a gale off the Haven, you'll want to retreat to your car pretty sharpish.
