North Park

North Park is a proper nature reserve just outside Milford Haven, where you can actually get a sense of Pembrokeshire's wilder side without the crowds that descend on the coast. The reserve protects scrubland and grassland habitat - the kind of landscape that looks unremarkable at first, then reveals itself if you slow down and actually look. You'll spot birds, small mammals, and plants adapted to this windswept corner of Wales.

It's ideal for keen birdwatchers and anyone interested in lowland heath conservation. Families with younger kids might find it a bit thin on the ground for activities, honestly - there's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so you're essentially walking round open ground. Give yourself an hour if you're just having a wander, longer if you've got binoculars and patience.

Free access, as far as I can tell, though do check before you go as information online is thin. The real draw is that it sits perfectly between the holiday parks clustered round here - Little Welsh Wood is barely a mile away, Creampots and South Cockett even closer - and a proper day out at Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, just four miles distant. Come here for something low-key between bigger attractions. It won't blow your mind, but on a clear day with decent light it's a decent spot for a walk and proper wildlife spotting if you know what to look for.
