Salty Sauna

There's a rather peculiar structure sitting on the Suffolk coast just east of Lowestoft that stops most passing visitors in their tracks. The Salty Sauna is exactly what it sounds like - a standalone wooden sauna building plonked right by the seafront, looking like someone's holiday fever dream made concrete. You can't miss it if you're walking the coastal path between Lowestoft and Kessingland.

What makes it oddly compelling is the sheer randomness of the thing. It's one of those attractions that exists almost defiantly, asking the obvious question: who decided this was a good idea, and why is it still here? The structure itself is straightforward enough - a sauna building that offers a proper contrast to the bracing North Sea air outside. It won't take long to see - twenty minutes absolute maximum if you're stopping for a proper look and photos. The nearby holiday parks at Pakefield and Kessingland Beach are within easy striking distance if you're basing yourself in the area. Free to view from outside, though actual sauna use would likely require advance booking and payment.
