Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church

The twin spires of Saints Peter and Paul rise above Lincoln's skyline with the kind of stubborn Gothic confidence that makes you actually want to go inside. Once you do, the vaulted ceilings and stone work justify the walk. It's a proper Catholic church - all burgundy pews, flickering candles, and that particular smell of old stone and polish that you either love or find a bit oppressive.

Historically minded visitors will get the most from a visit here, though casual architecture enthusiasts won't be wasting their time either. The craftsmanship in the stonework is genuinely impressive, and the light coming through the windows at certain times of day does something rather lovely to the interior. You're looking at 30-45 minutes max for a proper nose around, though you could easily spend longer if you're the contemplative type.

From the nearby holiday parks - Hartsholme Country Park is less than a mile away, so perfect if you're after a quick cultural stop before heading back to the caravan - you're virtually on the doorstep. South Cliff and Camper UK Leisure are slightly further out but still reasonable drives into Lincoln town centre. Saints Peter and Paul works well as a morning visit before tackling the rest of Lincoln's attractions, or an odd 20 minutes if you're driving through. Just check opening times before you go, as church hours can be unpredictable.
