Saint Michael and All Angels has been battling coastal erosion for centuries - and losing. The original Norman church has long since tumbled into the waves below, leaving this Victorian replacement perched rather precariously on what remains of the cliff edge.

Inside, you'll find memorial stones salvaged from the original building and stunning stained glass windows that catch the coastal light beautifully. The real draw though is the setting. From the churchyard, the views stretch across to Happisburgh lighthouse and along Norfolk's crumbling coastline. It's properly atmospheric, especially on a stormy day when the waves crash below.

History buffs will appreciate the story of this community's fight against the sea - there are fascinating displays about the lost village that once stood here.
