Saint James the Great Parish Church of St. Kew

The church sits in a quiet corner near Trewethern, one of those Cornish places you'd drive straight past if you weren't looking. St. Kew is dedicated to Saint James the Great, and the building itself is worth a stop if you're into medieval architecture or just fancy a bit of peace away from the coast crowds.

Inside, there's the usual mix of stone columns, wooden pews, and that particular smell of old churches everywhere. The real draw is the sense of being somewhere genuinely untouched by tourism - no gift shop, no entrance fee, just a working parish church that's been here for centuries. You can pop in for ten minutes or take longer if the mood strikes.

It works well as a break during a park holiday, especially if you're staying at St Minver Holiday Park or Rosebud Farm just down the road. Not a destination in itself, but the sort of place that adds character to a ramble around the village. The surrounding countryside is proper nice for a walk, and you're only a short drive from the beaches and more structured attractions if the kids get restless.

Go early morning if you want it quiet. Allow fifteen minutes to half an hour unless you're really into studying the stonework. Free to visit, obviously - it's a church. The nearest town is Trewethern, though it's tiny; you'll need to head further afield for shops and food.
