RNLI Henry Blogg Museum

Henry Blogg was Cromer's most celebrated lifeboat coxswain, and this small museum tells the story of a man who pulled people from the North Sea for fifty years. The collection sits right in town and covers his extraordinary career - the rescues, the medals, the boats he commanded. You'll see original artefacts, photographs, and the kind of kit these crews used when the sea was trying to kill you.

It's genuinely moving stuff, particularly if you're interested in maritime history or the RNLI's work. The museum doesn't take long - an hour maximum - but it's the sort of place that sticks with you. Blogg himself is a proper Norfolk legend, and learning about his life feels important rather than touristy. Families with older kids will get something from it; younger ones might find it a bit static.

Admission is modest, and if you're camped at The Grove Glamping or Seacroft just down the road, it's an easy walk into town. Pair it with a wander round Cromer's seafront and the Victorian pier. The town itself is straightforward seaside Norfolk - nothing fancy, but honest. It works well as a half-day stop during a caravan holiday along this stretch. West Runton Camping and the other sites nearby make reasonable bases if you're keen on exploring the coast around here. Visit on a quieter weekday morning if you can - it's less crowded and you'll actually hear yourself think.
