Riverside Park - Forres And Nairn Welfare FA

The Riverside Park sits right on the edge of Nairn, a stretch of green that follows the river with proper walking paths and enough space to actually breathe. It's run by the local welfare football association, which means it's well-maintained without feeling precious or over-managed. The river itself is the main draw here - you get decent views across the water, and on a clear day the light catches it nicely as it flows through. Benches are dotted about, some with actual shade if you time it right.

This is genuinely worth half a day if you're stopping in Nairn for a night or two. The walk is gentle, nothing that'll exhaust anyone, and you can extend it by following the paths both directions - there's roughly two or three miles of decent walking if you fancy it. Families with younger kids will find it manageable; older walkers will appreciate the pace and the lack of steep climbs. The river attracts birds, so bring binoculars if you're that way inclined.

It's free to access, as far as I can tell, and there's no official time limit - you rock up and walk when you like. If you're camping at Barrow Campsite just up the road, this is an excellent way to spend a morning before heading to the beach or exploring further into the Highlands. The real sell here is simplicity: it's a proper local spot, not touristy, and it works.
