Rhossili Sunflowers

The sunflower fields near Rhossili are a proper treat if you time it right - late July through August, when the blooms are at their peak. You're looking at acres of bright yellow heads all turned the same way, and honestly, it's the kind of thing that makes you understand why people travel miles for Instagram photos. The location's brilliant too: Rhossili sits on the Gower Peninsula just outside Swansea, so you're never far from the beach or a decent pub.

What actually happens here depends entirely on the season. Outside flowering months, there's nothing to see except a field. But when the flowers are out, you can wander between the rows - most farmers allow access, though it's worth checking locally first. Bring decent shoes because the ground gets muddy after rain, and a hat if you're fair-skinned, as there's zero shade.

This works best for families after a beach day, or anyone after an easy afternoon activity that doesn't require planning ahead. Walkers and photographers obviously rate it highly. It's free, takes maybe an hour including photos, and requires nothing more than showing up.

If you're camping at Pitton Cross, Hillend, or Gower Farm - all within a few miles - you're perfectly placed for a casual visit.
