Hollow Top

Standing at 203 metres, this summit on the Gower Peninsula delivers proper views across Swansea Bay and the surrounding countryside. The walk up from Penmaen village takes about 45 minutes through bracken and heather, with a fairly steep final push that'll get your heart rate up.

From the top, you can spot Worm's Head stretching into the sea on clear days, plus the sweep of Rhossili Bay in the distance. It's one of those spots where the effort feels worthwhile - not a huge mountain by any means, but enough of a climb to earn the panorama. Families with older kids who don't mind a proper walk will enjoy this, though little ones might struggle with the terrain.

The path can get muddy after rain, so decent walking boots are essential. Early morning visits often reward you with the best visibility before any haze builds up. There's no admission fee - it's just open moorland - and you could easily combine it with a trip to nearby Pennard Castle ruins.

For those staying at holiday parks around the Gower like Gower Holiday Village or Bank Farm Leisure, Hollow Top makes a good half-day excursion. The drive from central Swansea takes about twenty minutes, and there's roadside parking near the village. Well worth the effort if you fancy stretching your legs and seeing the peninsula from above.
