Reposed Face in the Wall

There's a stone face carved into a wall near Dunkeld, and it stops you dead. That's the Reposed Face - part of the Corbenic Poetry Path, a quietly ambitious project that weaves verse and sculpture through the Perthshire landscape. It's not a traditional gallery in the glass-and-coffee-table sense; it's more of a waypoint on a walking route, something you stumble upon rather than plan a trip around.

The face itself is contemplative, almost meditative. You'll want to read the accompanying poem - that's the whole point of this trail. It's the sort of thing that works brilliantly if you're already out walking between Dunkeld and the surrounding hills, less so if you're making a special journey just for this one sculpture.

It suits walkers far more than it suits gallery-goers. History enthusiasts might appreciate the artistic intent, but you won't be here for hours. Twenty minutes feels about right, longer if you sit with the poetry. Admission appears to be free, which is generous.

If you're based at Inver Mill Farm Caravan Park or Erigmore Holiday Park - both proper spots within a few miles - build this into a longer ramble rather than treating it as a standalone attraction. The real value is in the walking route itself, the poems tucked into the landscape, and the light on the Tay Valley. The face is one piece of a larger puzzle.
