The walk up Elrick More rewards you with proper Perthshire views without the slog of the big peaks. It's a modest hill by Scottish standards, but don't let that fool you - the climb from Dunkeld side is steep enough to get the blood moving, and the summit gives you sightlines across the Tay Valley that justify the effort.

You're looking at roughly two hours up and back if you're at a steady pace. The terrain is moorland and rough grass, so decent boots matter more than you'd think. On a clear day the visibility is excellent; on a misty one you'll want a map and compass because the top gets confusing fast.

This is proper walking country rather than a casual stroll. Families with older kids who don't mind a real trek will get something out of it. Anyone expecting a gentle afternoon ramble should pick something easier. The kind of place that rewards you for leaving early, beating the clouds, and finding a sheltered spot for a flask of tea at the top.

If you're based at one of the caravan parks nearby - Inver Mill Farm is closest at just over four miles from Dunkeld - you could easily tack this onto a morning before heading elsewhere. Grandtully Station Campsite and Erigmore Holiday Park are both within striking distance if you want to explore the wider area. The walk itself is free, which is the way of it with Scottish hills, and there are no facilities at the top so pack what you need.
