Reidon Hill

The walk up Reidon Hill rewards you with one of Surrey's best vantage points - proper countryside views that stretch far enough to make the climb worthwhile. It's nothing dramatic, mind you. This isn't the Lake District. But on a clear day you get rolling woodland, patchwork fields, and on your best days, a genuine sense of space that Surrey doesn't always offer.

The ascent takes about twenty minutes from the base, and it's steep enough to get your legs working without being a slog. The path itself is well-trodden and straightforward - no navigation puzzles. Families with reasonably fit children will manage it fine, though younger ones might need encouraging near the top. Walkers will appreciate it as a solid leg-stretch, particularly if you're basing yourself near Guildford and need to get out of the car for an hour.

Historically it's modest - no Iron Age fort or medieval ruin to justify a long visit. You're here for the views and the walk itself. That's enough. The summit has space to sit and take in the landscape without feeling crowded, even on weekends.

If you're staying at Chapel Farm Park or Warren Farm Home Park - both decent bases within a few miles - Reidon Hill slots in nicely as a morning walk before lunch. Free to visit, no permits needed, no time limits. Go early if you want solitude. The weather matters hugely here, so pick a clear day or you'll just be walking through trees.
