Rawson Hill

The walk up Rawson Hill is short, sharp, and honestly a bit of a leg-burner if you're not expecting the gradient. It's the sort of climb that takes you from the edge of Otley straight into proper moorland, and on a clear day the views back across Wharfedale are genuinely worth the huff and puff.

You're looking at maybe forty minutes to the summit if you take it steady - less if you're keen. The hill itself is moorland, rough grassland, the kind of place where you can actually breathe. From the top you get sight lines that stretch across the Yorkshire hills in ways you simply don't get from valley walks. On a grey day it's atmospheric; on a clear one it's crackling.

Families with older kids will manage fine; under tens might find the climb tedious. There's nothing fancy at the summit - no café, no cairn, just the fell and the view.

It slots nicely into a wider moorland walk around Otley - you can link it with other hills in the area for a proper day out.
