Raspit Hill

The view from Raspit Hill rewards you for climbing what is, frankly, not the most dramatic ascent in the south east. But that's rather the point - it's accessible enough for anyone reasonably fit, yet high enough to feel like you've actually gone somewhere.

You get proper views across the Kent Weald from up here, all rolling countryside and distant treelines. On a clear day it's genuinely worth the effort. The walk itself is straightforward, taking maybe 20 minutes from the nearest parking if you know where you're going - locals near Sevenoaks will have their favourite approach. There's nothing fancy waiting for you at the top, no café or visitor centre, just a hill and the landscape.

Walkers will get the most from this - it's an honest little peak rather than a destination in itself. Take kids old enough to manage a gentle climb without complaint and they'll feel accomplished. The views are the whole reason you're here, so pick a decent day rather than showing up whenever.

Since you're in the area, both Thriftwood Country Park and Gatehouse Wood are genuinely good spots for a longer stay, each sitting just a few miles away. Use Raspit Hill as a proper walk rather than a quick stop - pair it with the surrounding countryside and it slots nicely into a proper Kent holiday. Free to visit and no nonsense about it.
