Radio Posn Torr Head

High on the cliffs near Ballycastle sits a small white church that feels rather lonely - Radio Posn Torr Head commands views across the Irish Sea towards the Mull of Kintyre on clear days. It's not much to look at from the outside, but the location is what makes the trip worthwhile.

This is a working church, so visiting requires a degree of respect and planning around services. The real draw is the coastal walk to reach it. The drive gets you close, but the final approach involves a proper cliff-top hike with that exhilarating sense of being genuinely exposed to the elements - wind here is not optional.

Walking families will get a kick out of it, especially if conditions are good. The views justify the effort, though don't expect crowds or facilities. There's a small car park at the end of the road, and from there it's a 10-minute walk or so across rough ground. Bring windproof layers regardless of what the weather looks like in town - it's considerably wilder up here.

If you're basing yourself at Watertop Farm nearby or exploring the Causeway Coast more broadly, this works as a standalone half-hour detour rather than a destination in its own right. Summer's your best bet for attempting it; winter winds can be genuinely fierce. The isolation and the coastal drama are precisely why it's worth the bother.
