The Gruffalo Trail at Queenswood Country Park is a woodland walk that actually delivers on its promise - no gimmicky theme park nonsense, just a proper forest path with Gruffalo character sculptures dotted about. It's a loop through mature woodland north of Hereford, where the trees do most of the heavy lifting and the trail markers keep things straightforward enough for young legs.

You'll spot carved wooden creatures at various points along the route, which works brilliantly for keeping children engaged without feeling forced. The walk itself meanders through genuine coppice woodland - the sort of place where you notice fallen logs, bird calls, and actual quiet. It's not arduous: most families get round in an hour or so, though you can dawdle and make it stretch longer.
