Quay House sits on the waterfront at Lee-on-the-Solent, a proper bit of maritime history that most visitors walk straight past. The building itself is small - you won't need more than 20 minutes to look around - but it's the kind of place that rewards a closer look if you've got any interest in how this corner of the Solent worked.

Originally a customs house and storage point for the busy quays here, it's been lovingly maintained and gives you a genuine sense of what trade and life looked like along these shores centuries back. The views out toward the water are lovely, and on a clear day you can see right across the Solent. There's enough detail inside to keep history buffs engaged - documents, artefacts, local knowledge - but families with restless kids might find it a bit underwhelming on its own.

Your best bet is to make this a stop on a longer waterfront walk rather than a standalone trip. Combine it with a stroll around Lee-on-the-Solent's seafront, maybe grab lunch at one of the cafes nearby, and you've got a proper morning sorted. If you're based at Parkdean Resorts Nodes Point, it's only six miles away - easily done as a short excursion from the holiday park.

Bring a camera if you're into photography. The light here is particularly good in late afternoon, and the Solent backdrop makes for decent pictures.
