Quarry Hill

Standing at 623 feet above sea level, this modest hill offers surprisingly rewarding views across the Dorset countryside without the crowds that plague better-known peaks. The climb from Bridport takes about 45 minutes on well-marked footpaths, though the final ascent gets properly steep - bring decent walking boots.

From the summit, you'll see straight across to the Jurassic Coast and on clear days, the Isle of Wight sits on the horizon like a distant promise. Golden Cap looms to the west, while the rolling chalk downs stretch inland. It's lovely up here, especially in late afternoon when the light catches the patchwork fields below.
