Langdon Hill

Standing at 190 metres above sea level, this grassy hilltop provides one of the finest views along the Dorset coast. You'll spot Golden Cap to the east and the sweep of Lyme Bay stretching towards Devon - on clear days, the panorama is genuinely spectacular. The walk up isn't particularly taxing, though it's steep enough to get the heart pumping.

History buffs will appreciate the remnants of an Iron Age hill fort that once crowned this spot. Not much remains visible today beyond some earthwork traces, but it adds a layer of intrigue to what might otherwise be just another Dorset hill.

Families with older children will find this a proper rewarding climb, though toddlers might struggle with the gradient. Allow about 45 minutes for a leisurely ascent from the nearest car park. The National Trust manages the site, and there's no admission fee - always a bonus.

From holiday parks around Bridport, it's an easy drive to the base. Golden Cap Holiday Park sits less than a mile away, making it a natural morning excursion before heading to the beach. The hill works particularly well as part of a longer coastal walk, linking into the South West Coast Path for those with more ambitious plans.
