Pry Wood

The woodland paths at Pry Wood wind through a proper slice of Yorkshire countryside just a few miles south of Driffield. It's not dramatic - no soaring cliffs or wild moorland - but that's rather the point. The trees are thick enough that you're genuinely in forest, with decent shade even in summer, and the paths fork enough to keep a walk feeling exploratory without any danger of actually getting lost.

Walkers will find it worthwhile, especially if you're after something low-key between longer hikes. The undergrowth changes with the seasons, and autumn here is decent when the light cuts through properly. Families with younger kids will manage fine - it's the sort of place where a two-year-old can shuffle along without constant complaints, though there's nothing flashy to hold attention for hours on end.

If you're based at Seaways Glamping or Yorkshire Wolds Glamping nearby, Pry Wood makes a solid morning or early afternoon detour. It's close enough that you won't waste half a day driving, but far enough from Driffield itself that it feels separate from the town. There's no charge as far as I can tell, and you can spend anything from forty minutes to two hours depending on how many branches you fancy exploring.

The real value here is honest woodland - nothing staged or managed for maximum Instagram impact. Come if you want a genuine forest walk without the faffing about.
