Walking into Priory Wood South feels like stepping into someone's back garden - in the best way. This small forest tucked near Presteigne is proper woodland, the sort where you'll crunch through leaf litter and spot the occasional bird flitting between the canopy. It's not dramatic or vast, but that's rather the point.

You're looking at a straightforward woodland walk here, nothing more, nothing less. There are paths winding through the trees, though they're modest rather than manicured. On a damp day the ground gets soft underfoot, so decent boots aren't optional. The wood itself is dense enough to feel properly forested without being intimidating - young kids won't get lost, but older ones will enjoy the sense of exploration.
