This isn't a sprawling attraction that'll occupy hours of your time. Rather, it's a worthwhile pause during a walk around Beverley's town centre, particularly if you're interested in Victorian history or architecture. The statue itself tells you something about how the Victorians commemorated their heroes - formal, monumental, unapologetic. History types will appreciate the context; families passing through town might spend five minutes letting kids clamber about nearby while adults read the plaque.

Beverley itself is the real draw here. The town's got proper charm - the Minster is genuinely world-class if you haven't seen it - and the wider area works well for a caravan holiday. Manor Farm Camping is only 3.7 miles out, making it an easy base for exploring both the town and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. Butt Farm, another 5.6 miles further, offers more facilities if you're after glamping rather than basic pitches.

There's no admission charge - it's a public monument - and you can see it any time. Worth the detour if you're already in Beverley, but don't plan a trip solely around it.
