Pire Hill

Pire Hill isn't going to take your breath away, but it will get you moving. This modest peak sits a few miles outside Stafford and serves as a decent spot for a walk if you're camped nearby at one of the local sites - Fledgling Farm or Stable Park are close enough for an afternoon stomp.

The summit itself is fairly unremarkable, truth be told. You're looking at decent views across the Staffordshire countryside once you've made the effort, but it's more about the walk than the destination. The gradient won't trouble most walkers, and it's the sort of place where you can burn an hour or two without committing to a proper hike. Kids will manage it fine, though they might ask why there's nothing actually at the top - no café, no bench, just grass and the sort of view that needs decent weather to really sing.

It works best as a leg-stretch if you're basing yourselves at Greenfields Glamping or one of the other parks dotted around the area. Pair it with a walk around Stafford itself or venture towards some of the better-known peaks if you're really after hill scenery. Come when the light's good - early morning or late afternoon - and the whole thing feels less like box-ticking and more like a proper bit of countryside time.
