Penzance Promenade

The seafront at Penzance stretches long and broad, and you can walk it end to end without once feeling rushed. It's the sort of promenade where you notice things - the Victorian shelters painted in seaside colours, the way the light bounces off the water on a clear day, the actual mixture of people who use it, from serious walkers to families with small children. The view across Mount's Bay is genuine: on a good morning you'll see St Michael's Mount rising from the water like something from a postcard, and it never quite loses its impact no matter how many times you've clocked it.

This isn't a theme park or a ticketed attraction. It's free, it's yours to use as long as you want, and it works brilliantly as part of a wider coastal holiday. The walk itself takes as long as you fancy - you could do twenty minutes or two hours depending on which end you head towards and whether you stop for a pasty in Newlyn, just adjacent. Families with young children do well here because there's the beach to potter on, ice cream stops, and the walk is flat and manageable. Older visitors appreciate the gentle pace and the benches positioned at sensible intervals.

If you're staying at Foxglove Field Glamping or Roselands Caravan Park further out, the promenade gives you an actual seaside experience without the fuss of theme-park attractions. St. Ives is nearby too if you want to compare - Penzance's front is less congested and arguably more honest.
