Pensarn Promenade

The coastal path at Pensarn stretches along Conwy Bay with proper views across the water towards the Snowdonia range. On a clear day you can see right across to the mountains - it's the kind of walk that makes you remember why you came to North Wales in the first place.

It's a nature reserve, so you'll spot waders and the odd seal if you're lucky, though honestly the main appeal is simply the long shale beach and the gentle walking. The promenade itself is dead easy - flat, well-maintained, no scrambling required. Allow an hour to potter along comfortably, or two if you want to sit and actually look at things.

There's a definite local vibe here rather than a tourist trap atmosphere. Abergele, the nearest proper town, sits just inland, so you can grab a coffee before or after without much faffing about. It works brilliantly as part of a broader coastal loop if you're based at one of the nearby parks. Bron-y-Wendon, just 2.5 miles away, makes an obvious base - close enough for a quick morning walk before breakfast.

Walkers will find this more rewarding than families with small kids looking for activities. There's no facilities to speak of, no play areas, just the beach and the path. If your crew needs something to do, fair warning. But if you want fresh air, a bit of coastal scenery, and to see some actual wildlife without the crowds you'd get at a proper visitor attraction, this delivers. Best visited out of summer when you've got breathing room.
