Penmaenmawr Promenade

The seafront at Penmaenmawr is one of those stretches of North Wales coastline that quietly does its job without any fuss. You get a proper promenade here - wide enough to actually walk without dodging pushchairs, decent views across the bay, and enough space to breathe. The beach itself is shingle and sand depending on the tide, and there's a surprising amount of wildlife if you know where to look. Oystercatchers picking at the rocks, terns diving offshore in summer, and on a calm day you'll spot guillemots bobbing about.

Walkers will find this genuinely useful. The promenade connects to coastal paths that head toward Dwygyfylchi and beyond, so it works as a proper launchpad for longer rambles rather than just a terminal attraction. Families with young kids will get a decent hour here, maybe ninety minutes if the weather's kind and you're in no rush. Tide pools make for decent poking about, and the shingle doesn't destroy buggies quite as badly as some Welsh beaches.

It's free access, open year-round, and there's car parking right at the promenade itself. Come outside school holidays if you want it quieter. The real appeal here is that it's unpretentious - no amusement arcades, no fish-and-chip stands, just actual coast. If you're camping at Three Streams Glamping or Wern Farm up the road, this makes a solid evening stroll before heading back. Not the most dramatic shoreline in Conwy, but genuinely worth the visit.
