Penbryn Beach

The cliffs at Penbryn drop nearly 200 feet to a sweeping arc of golden sand and shale, and the beach itself feels properly remote despite being just a few miles south of Cardigan. You'll need to walk down a steep path through gorse and sea pinks to reach the shore - it's not a casual stroll, but the effort keeps the crowds away and rewards you with one of Ceredigion's best stretches of coastline.

This is walkers' territory first and foremost. The clifftop path along here is cracking, with views that stretch for miles on a clear day, and the beach itself offers decent exploring among the rock pools at low tide. Families with decent footwear will manage fine, though small children might find the descent a bit much. Once down, there's room to spread out, and the sands don't fill up the way some Welsh beaches do in summer.

The camping options nearby - Llety Caravan Park sits just 1.4 miles away, with Brynawelon and several others within a couple of miles - make it an easy morning or afternoon excursion from a park holiday base. You can do the beach in two or three hours and still have time for lunch back at your accommodation. The real appeal is the combination of serious coastal scenery and a genuine sense of going somewhere slightly out of the way. Worth the detour if you're staying in the area.
