The stone walls of St John the Baptist have stood in Sedlescombe for centuries, and stepping inside feels like walking into a proper time capsule. This isn't one of those grand cathedrals that leaves you slack-jawed - it's smaller, quieter, and all the better for it. The church sits just outside Battle, that famous battlefield town, so it's easy to tack onto a visit without much faffing about.
