Oxpen Meadow Lake

The lake sits quietly on the outskirts of Kenilworth, a proper spot for a morning walk if you're staying at one of the touring parks nearby. It's the kind of place where you'll actually see water birds doing their thing rather than posing for Instagram - grebes, coots, the occasional heron if you're lucky and patient. The walk around it takes about forty minutes at a leisurely pace, which makes it ideal padding between a night at Mousley House Farm or Gate Farm and a visit to Warwick Castle five miles south.

Expect water, reeds, and the gentle sounds of countryside rather than manicured gardens or facilities. There's no café, no playground, no reason to dress up. Walkers will find it worthwhile, particularly in spring when the birds are more active. Families with older kids who can handle a bit of soggy ground will get something from it. Young children might lose interest after twenty minutes unless you make a game of spotting ducks.

The admission situation is unclear from what I could find, but access appears open. Go early in the day when the light's better and the place is quieter. It works well as a breather between the heavier attractions - break up your time at Warwick Racecourse Caravan and Motorhome Club with a decent walk before heading into town. Not a destination in itself, but a solid use of an hour if you're in the area.
