Ouster Gill Hill

The walk up Ouster Gill Hill, just south of Carnforth, isn't a grand mountain expedition - it's more of a steady moorland climb that rewards you with proper views across the Lune Valley. The path winds through rough grass and heather, nothing too technical, though it's boggy in patches after rain so waterproof boots are advisable. From the top you're looking across Lancashire and into the Lake District hills beyond, which on a clear day makes the effort worthwhile. On a grey day though, it's rather bleak and you'll want to turn back quickly.
