The Roman Catholic church sits quietly on Aberfeldy's outskirts, a modest stone building that doesn't announce itself loudly but rewards a proper look around. Our Lady of Mercy is the sort of place that speaks to its congregation first and tourists second - and honestly, that's fine. The interior has that particular calm you find in smaller Catholic churches, with genuine devotion rather than grand gesture.

Worth a visit if you're already in Aberfeldy exploring the town itself, but don't make it the reason to drive here. The real draw is combining it with a walk along the nearby Tay and then pushing on to bigger attractions like Birks of Aberfeldy. If you're staying at one of the caravan parks - Pitilie Pods is excellent if you can stretch to it, or Glengoulandie further out if you want proper countryside peace - then a ten-minute detour to see the church costs nothing and takes maybe fifteen minutes inside.

It's genuinely interesting if you're interested in how Scottish Catholicism survived in Protestant areas, and the architecture reflects that pragmatic history. Families with young kids might find it a bit dull unless they're already keen on churches. Photography types will find better light and more dramatic subjects elsewhere in Perthshire.
