Orwell Hill

The highest point in Cambridgeshire sounds grander than it actually is - at 128 metres, Orwell Hill won't leave you gasping for breath. But that's rather the point. This gentle rise east of Royston offers something rare in the Fens: proper elevation and views that stretch across unexpectedly open countryside.

Parents won't find kids entertained for long - the draw is the walk and the view, not facilities or attractions at the top. History buffs might appreciate the Bronze Age barrow that sits here, though markers are minimal.
