Old Fold Hill

Rolling moorland stretches out in every direction from this modest West Yorkshire summit, though calling Old Fold Hill a peak might be pushing it slightly. At just over 300 metres, it's more of a gentle rise than a proper mountain, but what it lacks in drama it makes up for in accessibility and surprisingly good views across the Worth Valley.

Walkers will find this an easy win - the approach from Shipley takes you through typical Yorkshire countryside with dry stone walls and sheep-dotted fields. Families with young children will manage it without much fuss, though there's not a great deal to keep restless kids occupied once you reach the top. The views towards Ilkley Moor are decent enough on a clear day, but don't expect anything spectacular.

Being common land, there's no admission fee and you can wander up whenever the mood takes you. Allow an hour or two for a gentle walk, longer if you fancy exploring the surrounding moorland paths. It's the sort of place that works well as a morning stretch-your-legs expedition if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Dobrudden Caravan Park or Crook Farm Park. Worth combining with a trip to the more dramatic Bronte Country Park if you're after a proper day out on the moors.
