Officers' Mess

The Officers' Mess is a proper woodland walk rather than a formal attraction, tucked away in the Shropshire countryside just outside Shrewsbury. It's an old military woodland that's been left largely to its own devices, which means you get mature trees, decent birdsong, and the kind of peace that's become rarer near towns.

There's not much infrastructure here - no visitor centre, no café, no marked trails that I could find. What you get instead is access to quiet forest paths where locals come to stretch their legs. It's the sort of place where you might spot deer if you're lucky, though honestly you're more likely to encounter dog walkers and the odd jogger.
