Off the Lead, Landbeach

There's a dog park just outside Cambridge called Off the Lead in Landbeach, and it's genuinely one of those places that makes sense only if you've got a dog in tow. Nothing fancy - just a fenced field where dogs can actually run about without a lead, which is the whole point. The space itself is fairly open, a bit windswept on the Cambridgeshire fen, and popular with locals who know it exists.

It's brilliant for dog owners staying at any of the nearby parks - Chittering Park, Fen End Farm, or Hempsall Farm Glamping are all within a few miles - because frankly, dogs need a proper sprint after a day of settling into a caravan or tent. Expect to spend thirty minutes to an hour here, depending on how sociable your dog is and whether it actually comes back when you call. The field fills up on weekends with a real mix of dog types, so supervision matters.

Without a dog, there's nothing much to it. The fen landscape is flat and fairly unremarkable, and it's not really a destination in itself. But if you're doing a park holiday in the Cambridge area and need somewhere to let a dog burn off energy without worrying about roads or livestock, it does the job. It's free, it works, and it saves you hunting for a quiet corner of the Gog Magog Hills.
