Odin's Wall

Standing atop this rocky outcrop on the Gower Peninsula, you'll understand why locals christened it Odin's Wall. The dramatic limestone cliff formation does look rather like ancient fortifications, though Norse gods had nothing to do with its creation. What you get is a proper viewpoint over Three Cliffs Bay and the sweeping coastline beyond.

Families with older children who don't mind a scramble will love it here, though the approach requires a bit of careful footing over uneven ground. Photography enthusiasts particularly rate this spot for capturing the bay's famous arches and golden sands in one frame. The view stretches right across to Oxwich Point on clear days.

Getting there involves parking near Southgate and following the coastal path for about twenty minutes. Free to visit, naturally, and accessible year-round though winter storms can make the rocks slippery. Allow an hour to get there, soak up the views, and return safely.

If you're staying at Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park or Nicholaston Farm, this makes a cracking morning walk before the beach gets busy. The proximity to several Gower camping spots means you can easily work this into a longer coastal exploration. Just mind the tide times if you're planning to continue down to the beach afterwards.
