About Noxon Pond
You won't spend hours here. That's not the point. What makes it worth a stop is the stillness. On a clear day the reflections are excellent for photography, and it's a decent spot if you've got young kids who want to feed ducks or throw stones. The walk around it takes twenty minutes at most, which means it works as a five-minute detour between other Forest of Dean attractions rather than a destination in its own right.
The pond sits within easy reach of several caravan and camping sites - Whitemead Forest Park and Bracelands Campsite are both close enough for a morning wander before breakfast. If you're based at one of the nearer parks like Hawthorne Cottage, you could jog over in a couple of minutes.
Best visited in spring or early summer when the woodland isn't too dense and you can actually see the water clearly. Winter feels a bit bleak and cluttered with fallen branches. Completely free, no admission charge. It's the kind of place that rewards you for getting slightly lost in the Forest - unexpected, low-key, and exactly what the Forest of Dean does well.
