Nobottle Wood

The name alone stops you dead - Nobottle Wood, near Northampton, sounds made up, but it's genuinely on the map and genuinely worth a walk. It's a proper woodland with decent paths cutting through broadleaf trees, the kind of place where you actually notice the seasons changing. Spring brings bluebells in clusters, autumn turns everything copper and gold. The footpaths are well-maintained without feeling manicured, and you get that earthy smell when it's been damp.

Walkers will find the most to enjoy here. It's not a quick fifteen-minute stroll - you can easily spend an hour or two exploring without feeling rushed.
