The marshes around Sheerness hold a quiet sort of magic that catches you off guard. No Business is a nature reserve that sprawls across the wetlands here, and it's the sort of place where you actually notice the absence of noise. You won't find a visitor centre or facilities - this is raw, working countryside where the emphasis stays entirely on what lives here rather than what visitors want.

The birdwatching is genuinely excellent. Lapwings, redshanks, and if you're lucky, the occasional marsh harrier cut across the flat landscape. The walking trails wind through reed beds and open water, and there's something rather grounding about having absolutely nothing between you and the horizon. It takes patience though - this isn't a quick half-hour jaunt. Give yourself two hours minimum if you want to see anything worth seeing.

Families with young children might find it a bit slow-paced unless they're already keen on wildlife spotting. Walkers and bird enthusiasts will be absolutely in their element. Bring proper binoculars and a field guide. The ground can get sodden even days after rain, so waterproof boots are essential rather than optional.

Early mornings in spring or autumn tend to be best for spotting migrants. Real, unpolished countryside that rewards whoever shows up with genuine curiosity.
