Nab Hill

The walk up Nab Hill rewards you with proper moorland views across West Yorkshire, and it's dead straightforward from Keighley. The summit sits at 1,148 feet, which sounds grander than it plays out - it's more of a solid fell walk than a scramble, taking the best part of an hour to reach the top if you're not rushing. On a clear day you'll clock the Pennines stretching away, and the moorland up there has that wild, windswept feel that makes you remember why you left the car park behind.

It's the kind of place where walkers come to clear their heads rather than tick off a list. Families with decent legs will manage it fine; younger kids might find the final stretch tedious, but there's nothing technical about it. The ground can be boggy after rain - proper soggy in places - so good boots aren't optional.

If you're based at one of the holiday parks within a few miles (Old Chamber Camping and Hebden Bridge Caravan Club are both close enough), this works as a half-day excursion alongside exploring Bronte Country Park or the villages round about. Keighley itself is just down the road, making this an easy addition to a broader Yorkshire moorland trip rather than a destination on its own. Free to walk, naturally, and there are no facilities at the top, so take water. Best tackled in the morning when the light's decent and you're not fighting the sun setting behind you.
