Nab Head

The walk up Nab Head rewards you with one of the better views across the Cheshire plains, assuming the weather cooperates. It's not a demanding climb - more of a steady plod than anything that'll leave you gasping - but the summit offers genuine panoramic views towards the Pennines and back towards Macclesfield itself. On a clear day you can see properly far. On a grey one, which is often, you'll squint a lot and wonder if it was worth the trek.

This is walker territory, pure and simple. Families with younger kids might find twenty minutes to the top tedious unless they're keen types, but rambling groups and anyone wanting a straightforward afternoon circuit will find it solid. The peak itself sits around 1,000 feet - high enough to feel like proper hills without needing specialist kit.

Allow an hour return from the car park if you're taking it easy. Free admission obviously, since it's a hill. Spring and autumn tend to work best here - summer can draw decent crowds and winter might be boggy depending on rainfall.
