Myreton Motor Museum

The car park at Myreton fills up quick on weekends, which tells you something straight away - this museum actually draws people. What you're walking into is a working farm turned petrolhead paradise, basically. The collection ranges from proper vintage motorcycles to 1950s saloons that still run, alongside agricultural machinery that's frankly more interesting than you'd expect.

The layout's informal, spread across old farm buildings, which means you're not herded round on a predetermined route. That's either brilliant or annoying depending on your mood. Kids will lose patience after ninety minutes unless they're genuinely obsessed with engines - the outdoor bits are limited and it's not a hands-on experience. But if you're the sort who can spend three hours reading plaques and photographing bumpers from the 1960s, you'll find plenty to justify the trip.

It's free to get in, though donations are asked. The farm setting near East Lothian means you could easily string this together with a stay at Haven Seton Sands Holiday Village, which sits four or five miles away and offers proper family facilities if you're after something more structured. The museum works as a half-day diversion rather than a main event - worthwhile if classic cars genuinely excite you, but don't shift your whole itinerary around it. Go midweek if you want peace and quiet with the exhibits.
