Mynydd Anelog

The walk up Mynydd Anelog is short, steep, and proper rewarding. From Pwllheli, it's barely half an hour before you're standing on this modest Gwynedd peak looking across the Llŷn Peninsula toward Snowdonia. The view justifies the climb - nothing dramatic, but wide and generous, especially on a clear day when you can pick out the mountains properly.

It's not a long expedition. Most walkers cover it in an hour or so, which makes it ideal if you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots - Glampio Coed or Treheli Farm are both within striking distance - and want to stretch your legs without committing to a full day out. The path is straightforward enough, though it does get muddy after rain, so decent boots matter.

History heads might find the Bronze Age cairn at the summit interesting, though it's not dramatically preserved. This is more about the walk itself and the sense of perspective you get from up there. Children will manage it fine if they're reasonably fit, but the appeal is hiking rather than play, so younger kids might find it a bit of a slog.

Go early if you can - parking near the start fills up quickly on weekends, particularly in summer. The best light tends to be morning anyway. It's free, obviously, being a Welsh hillside. Pair it with a wander around Pwllheli's harbour and you've got a decent half-day sorted before heading back to camp.
